walkoff home run to win game at 2017 mn state class b tourney

The 2017 squad will go down as one of the the deepest rosters in the history of the Moorhead Brewers. And once again the team advanced to the final four in the state B tourney (4th year in a row), only to fall to Miesville Mudhens (again). Despite the disappointing finish, there were a lot of great moments in 2017, including multiple tournament wins, two walk-off wins at state, clutch pitching, and some really memorable great defensive plays. The season record finished at 37-5.

The Brewers have been regrouping and recharging for yet another run in 2018. There are some changes to the roster as a few players have taken new jobs and moving out of the area. Chris Coste continues to advance his coaching career, taking the hitting coach job with the FM Redhawks and won't be available this summer, Kaleb Binstock is catching on with a collegiate summer league, Landon Uetz and Michael Leach have work/school taking them out of the area and a couple other players are up in the air currently. Those are some big shoes to fill but the Brewers have restocked with Denver Blinn (DMACC) and Turner Storm (Concordia) and have plenty of pitching intact, including Dahl, Ernst, Kingsley, and Olson, among others.

The schedule this season gets off to a slower start than usual which is fine given the late spring weather, the team will travel to Sacred Heart and Prior Lake, and host a good Sioux Falls team in a home tournament in June at Jack Williams. The squad looks forward to the Coors Light Classic in July and will face Hampton, Green Isle, and Shakopee, then travel to Cold Spring to take on Section opponents Cold Spring, Beaudreau's, and Brainerd. There will be plenty of action in between (mostly Wednesday games) against local opponents.
